Our recipe competition brought the Dinner Twist HQ some delicious ideas, but there could only be one winner! Congratulations Zoe!
Zoe, who is 11 years old, sent us a beautifully detailed recipe card for their favourite meal of Pizza Pastries. We love Zoe's twist on a classic pizza! All the classic elements of pizza; salami, ham, pizza sauce and of course, melted cheese, loaded into puff pastry and baked until golden, served with a fresh salad on the side.
Zoe's winning recipe has won the whole family a 12-month membership to Perth Zoo.
A special thank you to all our competition entrants. We loved all the recipes and have been very inspired by the next generation of Twisters.
Ingredients:
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 jar pizza sauce
- 4 slices ham
- 4 slices salami
- cheese (as much as you like!)
- 1 bag rocket leaves
- 1 tomato
- 1 avocado
As well as the delicious Pizza Pastries Zoe created, the team at Dinner Twist HQ are so impressed with the effort Zoe went to by illustrating their step instruction pictures! It certainly made it super easy for our recipe team to follow along when we cooked this in our test kitchen.
Method:
- Pre-heat oven to 180ºC. Cut pastry into 1/4s and separate. Place 4 pieces of pastry on a lined oven tray (reserve remaining).
- Spread sauce in the middle of pastry pieces on oven tray (be sure to leave some room around the edges). Layer on ham, salami and cheese.
- Use remaining pastry to top pizzas. Use a fork to press down edges of pastry to seal.
- Brush top of pizza pastries with oil (or substitute oil with 1 whisked egg). Bake for 25-30 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Dice or wedge tomato. Dice avocado. Add to a bowl along with rocket leaves. Toss to combine.
- Serve pizza pastry on a plate with a side of fresh salad.
Want to make this at home? We used Kitchen 2 Kitchen shredded cheddar cheese, Hass avocados and tomatoes from the Dinner Twist Marketplace.
