Regeneratively farmed almonds, run by a passionate family who care not only about the environment but their local community too - what more could you ask for?

Tracey and her partner are the owners of Cape Almonds orchard, located in the beautiful Margaret River region. Their mission is to grow their almonds in a highly sustainable manner with very low impact on the environment. Chris & My {Dinner Twist Co-Founders} along with kiddos, Lea & Axel, recently visited the Cape Almonds orchards to understand their farming processes and why they do what they do!

Tracey’s parents planted the almond trees about 12 years back and it is now a side business run by herself and her husband. They do everything themselves {yep that’s right, just the two of them!}, from picking the almonds to packing them and sometimes even personally delivering them to the Dinner Twist office to pop in and say a quick hello! The care and passion that goes into this business is something you really don’t come across as often these days.

The photos pictured here are just a small portion of what Chris & My captured on their cameras whilst visiting the orchards. The almonds on the orchard are grown completely spray-free, meaning they are free to grow and ripen just at nature intended. You may notice that it is free of black plastic and weeds galore - there is a very good reason for this! The weeds, grass and native plants actually keep moisture in the soil, therefore rain = healthy soil! On a traditional farm, the soil gets turned over so regularly, which requires copious amounts of water. The weeds are also there to bring down the carbon dioxide levels; it’s a very natural way of growing.

Tracey is also a very active member within the local community. She loves working with schools and having the children come to the farm to provide them with knowledge and understanding of regenerative farming, by seeing the processes for themselves and getting out in nature - even by planting some trees too! The farm dog, Snickers, also loves making an appearance whenever he gets the chance! Lea and Axel absolutely adored playing with him {and we all know, there’s nothing we love more than a farm dog!}
